Overview
The Crown Automotive 55013144 is a plastic radiator grille in black and chrome for the 1988–1990 Jeep Cherokee (XJ). It covers the Base, Chief, Laredo, Limited, Pioneer and Sport trims.
Crown Automotive is a manufacturer and distributor of replacement parts for Jeep vehicles, and its catalog includes many factory-discontinued items. This grille is a replacement for XJ owners who need a new radiator grille rather than an accessory.

- Radiator grille replacement for the Cherokee XJ
- Fits six XJ trims
Replacing a plastic grille
A radiator grille is one of the first parts to show age on an older Cherokee. Plastic can crack at the mounting tabs, fade in the sun and lose its black and chrome look. When a grille is replaced, the front clip, headlight trim and hood latch area are worth inspecting at the same time.
Plastic flexes more than metal, so handle the new part carefully when fitting it. Check the tabs and clips against the old grille before removing it, and avoid forcing a tab into a slot that does not line up. Clean the surrounding paint and trim so the new grille seats cleanly.
- Inspect mounting tabs for cracks
- Compare clips with the old grille
- Clean the surrounding trim before fitting
