Blade sweep and rod length
A long wiper rod carries the motion from the pivot to the blade arm, so its length sets the arc the blade travels across the glass. A rod that is even slightly off in length can change where the blade parks and how close it comes to the lower edge of the windshield. Measure the original rod between its mounting points before removing it.
When fitting the new rod, confirm that the pivot sits in the same bracket position and that the blade clears the frame at the top of the stroke. Check the pivot’s grease and seal condition during installation, since a dry pivot causes stiff, uneven sweeps. After a few trial runs, look for contact with the body or hood.
