Setting up the recliner
A rotary recliner mechanism needs regular checks because it carries the seat back under load. Over time, the dial may slip, the lock may stop engaging, or the seat back may drift when reclined. Keep the recliner dial and its lock free of dirt, and avoid leaning hard on a seat that is not fully latched. Springs that tire can also make the seat feel soft, so watch for sagging over time.
Before installing, decide which side the dial should sit on, since it mounts on either side. Once mounted, test the recline in each position and confirm the seat locks fully upright. Recliners that stay loose under load should be checked before anyone rides in the seat again.
