The Smittybilt DS31-4 is a vehicle-specific hardware kit that attaches a Smittybilt Defender Rack roof rack to a vehicle’s factory roof rack rails. It is made for 4-door models with a hardtop, and it attaches without drilling or modifications.

Hardtop and rail checks
A hardtop mounting kit depends on the rails and roof panel being in good condition. Look over the factory rails for cracks, bent sections and loose fasteners before mounting, and make sure the hardtop itself is secure. A rack that moves on its mounts can rub paint or wear the hardtop finish.
Hardware should be snug but not overtightened, and it should be rechecked after the first few drives on rough roads. Wind noise and vibration are normal on racks, but a rattle often points to a loose clamp. Removing the rack for cleaning or storage is easier when the kit stays with the rack.
