Key features

  • Direct OE replacement built to original Jeep specifications
  • Black finish
  • Steering wheel and horn button components in one kit
  • It fits the 1987–1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ.
  • Limited five year warranty from Omix-ADA.

Horn button and column work

The horn button is part of the column circuit that carries the horn signal back to the body, usually through a contact ring at the base of the wheel. When the horn stops sounding, the cause is often a dirty contact or a worn ring rather than the button itself. Before fitting a new wheel, check that the horn contact is clean and that the wiring to the column is intact.

A YJ steering column is often original, so bushings, the steering shaft and the wheel nut are worth a look during the swap. Keep the wheel centered while the column is apart so the turn signal cancel and any spring in the column line up correctly. Keep the old wheel until the new one is confirmed to work with the horn and signals.

  • Clean the horn contact before reassembly
  • Check the column wiring for wear or chafing
  • Test the horn and turn signals before the first drive

Questions & Answers

Does the Omix-ADA 18031.07 fit a Jeep TJ?

No. The kit is made for the 1987–1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ only, so a TJ is outside its range. Confirm your vehicle's year, model and trim before ordering.

Is an airbag included with this steering wheel kit?

No. The airbag is not included, so the kit contains the black steering wheel and horn button only. Check what your current wheel carries before removing it from the column.

What is part number 18031.07?

Part number 18031.07 is the Omix-ADA black steering wheel and horn button kit, UPC 804314150211. It is an OEM replacement built to original Jeep specifications for the 1987–1995 Wrangler YJ.

How do I know if the horn button or the column needs work?

Start with the horn contact and the wiring. If the horn works intermittently, the contact ring is a likely cause. If the steering feels loose or wobbles, inspect the column bushings and the wheel nut before replacing parts.

Can I reuse the old horn button with the new kit?

Only if it is in good condition and its connections match the kit's components. Inspect its contacts for wear and check the connector before assembly.
